there seems to be a large attempt to eliminate that phrase from common colloquial language. As i posted earlier their is a advertising campaign, and now a highschool campaign, where students can be penalized for using derogatory words.
in theory this seems a like good idea. It should help student think about the consequences of the language they use and reevaluate their motives behind them. I fear that since is it peers and adult doing the centering it is likely to back fight when students feel another part of their life is being controlled and monitored by adults.
the intention is to monitor students, and edit their behavior eventually leading to self censorship where students stop themselves from being derogatory before the words come out of their mouth.
